Since plans got cancelled to go to Brady, TX we decided to load the boys up and take the camper out for the first time. Our friends Cara and Greg are experienced campers and love it so they decided to go along with us. Cara brought her son Jimmy who is about Kyson's age so the boys had someone to play with while we were there. We headed out on Friday after Breckin got out of school to Pineville, MO and set up camp at Sugar Island. It was beautiful! there.
Our campsite was right on the water and shaded by lots of trees with not many people around so it was the perfect spot.
The boys couldn't wait to get in the water. The deepest water was maybe a couple of feet deep so the boys basically had a big wading pool and had the best time. Kyson just liked to sit in the water and hang out. They were in the water from the time it was warm enough in the morning until we had to drag them out in the evening. I thought they would get bored while we were there but they had so much fun playing in the water all day I didn't hear any complaints about being bored at all.
Brian and I not being very experienced campers yet brought along hot dogs for dinner and lunch the next day thinking that would be the easiest to cook. Cara and Greg being the experienced campers they are showed us the way to camp where you don't have to eat just hot dogs and you can have a great meal. After the fist night we had some great food! Brian and I are ready to get more cooking tools and perfect our camp food.
Who says you can't have Ramen noodles while you are camping???
Mac and cheese over the campfire. The boys were really excited about this.
Stew meat and potatoes we used to make a fajita type dinner. it was so good. Brian grilled the onions with the meat and we added cheese.
No camping adventure would be complete without having smores. This was Breckin's first smores and he has such a sweet tooth he wanted one the next day for breakfast.
The ice cream truck is everywhere! It seems like everywhere we go we can't get away from it. Somehow they wandered onto the campgrounds and that music draws in every child so of course our kids wanted to get ice cream (really Popsicles) from the ice cream truck. They really did enjoy them.
On Saturday Kyson turned 3. His party is next weekend but we decided to do a little something for him out at the campsite. We got him a little cake and sang happy birthday. We was going around all day singing "Happy Birthday dear me!". I think he had a great birthday camping and being in the water.
This camping adventure was so much fun for us and now that we have the camper we plan on doing it a lot more. We all had a great time and can not wait to go again!
